Shelton School Superintendent Wayne Massie is determined to get the parents point of view on educating their children, so he’s hosting a focus group. Massie says, “This focus group will be at the Mt. View Elementary in the school library, on Thursday evening, 6:30 to 7:30pm”.
The information gleaned in the session helps guide school policies and priorities, Massie explains, “ The information is pretty valuable for each of our schools, but also for me as we really try to help set direction that encourage high expectations for all kids and academic success and really, how do we develop more positive relationships between parents, schools and students”.
The focus groups are valuable for the parents as well, Massie adds, “I think they (the parents) were just pleased that they got the opportunity to really talk about things that matter to them and to their kids, and I think that's important that they're heard and also we can start doing some things that make a difference for them and their children.
