Mason County is entering the next stage in developing a Community Health Improvement Plan. Mason Matters and a representative group of community partners, including businesses, health care, education, government and community
planning among others has been meeting since April 2011. Their task is to help Mason County create a Community Health Improvement Plan that addresses priorities that are based upon data and opportunities for action. For the past six months, this group has been diving deep into data describing Mason County residents and the communities in which we live, work and play. This learning has included community conversations with individuals who are doing the direct service work in the community. In February 2012, the group will be identifying community priorities. But now, we need to hear from the larger community before final selections are made. Mason Matters is inviting the larger community to participate in the priority-setting activities.
Mason Matters is launching a community awareness campaign that will be running in a variety of media sources throughout the county. This campaign will run through February 10, 2012. The awareness campaign will be conducted through a series of four quizzes that will allow Mason County residents to test their knowledge about Mason County. At the end of the quiz publications, Mason County residents will be encouraged to use this knowledge and help identify community priorities. Citizen input will be collected through a survey posted on the Healthy Mason County web site at the end of the “Test Your Mason County Mind” campaign.
If individuals are interested in more detailed information about Mason County, they can download the Mason County Data Series from the Healthy Mason County website, www.HealthyMasonCounty.org. Mason Matters prepares these detailed data sheets as part of its community assessment activities. This project is sponsored by Mason Matters, Public Hospital District #1 and Public Hospital District #2. Questions? This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
