The Fire District #4 Board of Commissioners has submitted a Resolution to the Mason County Auditor to place a proposition to increase the fire tax, also known as a lid-lift of the tax limitations, on the Primary Election Ballot.
“We have a Vision to: stop fire at the room of origin, save more lives and do so effectively and efficiently for the long-term”, says Gary Plews, Commissioner.
The fire district will ask voters to lift the fire tax levy. Currently, the district’s fire tax is 57 cents per $1000 of assessed value (the lowest in Mason County). The district will ask $1.10 per assessed $1000, The statutory limit for fire and EMS tax is $2.00 per assessed $1000, Fire District #4’s EMS Levy has expired and (with a successful lid-lift), voters will not be asked for an EMS Levy based on our seven-year financial plan.
