Community Forum

This is a place for you to tell us and the community your thoughts on what is going on around you. We'd like to see this as a starting place for open discussions about anything you feel needs to be addressed; be it policy issues in Mason County, the State, the Country or even the world. This is your place to do it! The biggest change you will notice about the new forum is that it opens up in a new window so you can still surf the website and use some of our news stories as potential starting points. Remember: You never have to leave your name, but if you feel strongly about something, let your neighbors know.

Localism
This is my first post to this forum and I want to thank the folks at MCDN for providing not only a Local web based news site but a place for social networking with community members.
I am a managing Broker for two Real Estate Offices in Allyn and Belfair and Localism was the topic for one of our office meetings. We discussed the question of “What is Localism,” and how would it benefit our clients. Everyone agreed it is very important for us to draw more attention via the Web/Bloggs to our community, i.e. issues, uniqueness and lifestyle. Even our local Chamber of Commerce has adopted the slogan to “Shop Local”. Subsequently, many in the Real Estate Community are actively Blogging to provide more community communication and information. Who better than us, the Real Estate community, to make it happen?
Rural areas have always depended on each other to find out about the new business opening up or setting the record straight on local gossip. We think it is a great opportunity for us to be a community spoke person. We have the opportunity to showcase all the smaller communities that have very little or no presence on the Web. To narrate their story and perhaps bring back the time when every person knew what was going on in the community and when everyone knew their neighbor.
This News organization site is a great example of enticing community members to start talking to each other in this medium...entering into the World of WEB 2.0, a fresh new direction in communication. We locals must take advantage of portals like this one and tell our stories, share what's going on and renew our hidden talent to write.
Lastly, I invite any reader to check out my personal Blog http://therealstateofrealestate.com and http://Localism.com for more local information, pictures and gossip. Thanks for reading.
